So a few months ago, the ABA Journal had a cover story of Mac vs. PCs in law practice, done in a format where a question would be asked and a pro-PC guy would answer, then a pro-Mac guy would answer. Being a computer salesperson, I devoured the article and was angered by some of the stuff the pro-PC guy said. Some of his incorrect facts were: "you can emulate Windows on a Mac, but it's really slow and it sucks" (truth: Parallels and VMware Fusion do slow down your machine, but if you have enough RAM, you're fine; plus, you show me a PC that can run two OSes at the same time with a program installable by the average user) and "if you need new hardware for your mac, like a hard drive, you need to buy it from Apple" (this may have been the case like 10 years ago, but Macs have used the same kind of HD as PCs since at least 2000 -- yes, they're formatted differently, but blank HDs are, well, blank, and need to be formatted 95% of the time anyway).

I read this article and was so riled up about the factual inaccuracies that the PC guy spewed that I wrote a letter to the editor.

They published it this month.

Arguing about computers in a law magazine is meta-nerdy.

Clearly, the state knows who's boss.

In other news, my iPod Shufflé decided to run out of batteries this morning. Since I can't take big iPod to the gym and do lifting now that the clip on its case is broken, and because I clearly cannot work out without musical accompaniment, I decided to go for the run I did through most of 2006. Holy nuggets am I out of run-shape. The scores are supposed to come in within five weeks of taking the test. I looked at a calendar and realized that the five week date is this coming Saturday. I looked further at the site and saw that they email you your results. Curious, I checked my junk mail folder and there it was.

An email, the subject line an uncapitalized "your mpre score report is ready." Heart pounding, I clicked the link, logged in, clicked a few more links (I think they do this to heighten your nerves), waited while Adobe Reader loaded, and saw my beautiful scaled score in all its glory:

120.

I needed at least an 80 to pass in Illinois.
SO. There's this show tonight, then tomorrow night djsiberia and DJ :EYG: will be spinning at Inferno! It will be extremely radtastic, and you should come. Doors at 9, no cover before 10 or with valid UW ID, $4 afterward, a great mix of 00ntz and sw00n all night long.

This will be the first "nice weather" Saturday I'll be spinning for a long time. Inferno might not be cold inside! The tunes will be hot! Come on out!

Man, I've been productive lately.

Relatedly, getting rid of stuff you've been hauling around and not using for years is immensely freeing. I only wish it were as easy to get rid of clothing at some small profit as it is to get rid of used CDs. Now all I have to do is make enough money selling off CDs to be able to buy a new CD carrier. One of mine is broken, and both are insufficiently-sized for the new discs I got post-BlackSun.

Speaking of which, djsiberia and I will be spinning at Inferno this Saturday! It will be extremely awesome! Consider yourselves forewarned.

I sat down tonight to figure out my taxes. After spending some quality time with WI DOR publication 121, I figured out how the thing works. So I got everything in order and am mailing out my stuff today! Chide me not for being a paper-filin' troglodyte -- it's free, and everything else out there that's a "free filing" is free to file, but they charge you for the "preparation," even if you had it all worked out on your own beforehand. Boo.

Even though this took me all night, it wasn't all that onerous. I'm sure the day will come when I hate doing taxes, but for now that isn't the case.

Go go gadget taxes!

Back from Blacksun, which was a blast as usual. Except it was kind of a cold blast this year. Regardless, gleipnir23 is a princess among women for putting up with our dumb selves, and reverendbrian is a rockstar for hooking us up with the show-ness and dragging our butts around.

Met a lot of great people, saw a lot of great bands and got to talk with some real Germans. And jazz hands. Now I'm tired and stuck at work.

Woo spring break!
